Review on Belkin F4U110Bt Thunderbolt Upstream Transfer and Charging for 3840X2160 by Jason Tpc

The USB ports don't work with the PC and the multi-display doesn't work with the new MacBook Pro.

I bought it because I knew I had to compromise. I need a travel dock that can be used with both Mac and PC. While the size is great, the compromises were more restrictive than I wanted, and most importantly, the USB ports don't work at all with my mouse and keyboard on my PC. My PC is an IBM ThankPad P52. My Mac is a brand new MacBook Pro 13 "Let's start with compromises. When I ordered I knew that (1) it wouldn't power my P52 and (2) it wouldn't support extended desktop display with my Mac. The power shift was fine. Don't expect to have a dock that works with both my Macbook and PC powering the P52. I also don't mind not being able to extend the window to two screens. I still never do. There are multiple windows on one screen and other windows on another. As long as I can drag application windows from one window to another, I'm happy. There are two reasons I had to bring this back: first, the USB ports don't work with my PC and second, the ethernet connection doesn't work with any of the laptops. were defective, but I believe that they most likely didn't die, just didn't work well with his laptop. The reason I say this is that my USB mouse (Posturite "Penguin" USB Handheld Mouse) and keyboard (Kinesis Advantage Pro USB Keyboard) are not recognized by my PC when docked, but the Macbook will recognized. Note that both the mouse and keyboard are recognized when plugged directly into my PC's USB ports. In fact, I've used this mouse and keyboard on multiple computers and with other docking stations for years with no issues. I have not tested other keyboards or mice. I have had RSI issues in the past and have relied on these expensive and excellent mice and keyboards, I have never had any compatibility issues with them with other devices and they are quite expensive. I'm not replacing my keyboard or mouse to make room for the dock. It's also annoying that when I plug an Ethernet cable from the router into the docking station, I can't surf the Internet on either my PC or Mac. I need to switch to WiFi. If I plug an ethernet cable directly into my computer, I can get internet through it. If I can't use a mouse or keyboard with a docking station, and if I can't use a stronger and more stable internet connection via an ethernet cable, then it's not exactly a docking station. I'm usually experienced with Belkin products. According to their website, Belkin recommends their Belkin Dual Display USB-C® Dock, INC002, for Macs with the new M1 chip. I ordered one of these. Hopefully this will at least allow me to connect Ethernet, mouse and keyboard to PC and Mac while not having to connect multiple displays.

Pros
  • There was no power cord included
Cons
  • Over time, it just started turning off spontaneously. Terrible value considering how expensive it is.
