I DON'T LIKE THIS WATERCOLOR MAGAZINE AT ALL

The weight of the magazine is wonderful, the hard cover is heavy and solid. When you open it, it feels like it's about to creak. Celebration. Good sign I thought. Paper is what matters, and paper is THICK, thicker than cardboard. You can hit him and get a loud BLOW for your troubles. Your first thought is to run to your brushes and paint to see what it will be. Open the last page and do a test. Maybe try a lighter color (okay, *I* did that) and touch the side with the brush. The paint lands right on the page where you put it, instantly - pour some water on it - throw in a few dots of paint - no dispersion. This is not something wet in a wet player. The water just sits oddly on the paper and doesn't give the paint a chance to disperse, no wet-on-wet play here. I don't know what it's covered with, but I don't like it. If you do a lot of wet on dry it will be great. But as a person like me (ie cheap) I use everything I pay for, so I've been using it as my 2020/2021 art magazine for a few months now and I can say my feed always comes out clean, no breaks, and my paint color looks stunning Always dry out fairly believably, with no major shifts. I draw on both sides of the sheet – (again CHEAP and I mean what the heck I'm documenting the atrocities of 2020 in a crappy sketchbook what else can go wrong) and I notice that those extra thick pages warp up a lot wobbly when the book is straight on the table - see first picture. So I keep it under a huge weight every night - all the watercolor books and sketchbooks on my shelf being held flat - as in - if it could help flatten this book it would. The only way to get a smoother finish is to iron each side individually. WILL NOT HAPPEN MO. So yes, this idiot is my personal 2020 memoir nightmare within a book nightmare. Not my favorite paper at all. :)
