Better in every way

This scale is better than my old digital kitchen scale in every way. My old scale is a Salter, which I'm pretty sure got from Bed and Bath. The first thing that struck me about this scale is the large, easy-to-read, backlit display. My old scale has a non-backlit LCD that sits too close to the weighing surface and is often obscured by what I'm weighing. With my old scale, I often had to bend and squirm to read under the rim of a plate or bowl, and sometimes needed a flashlight just to see the numbers. No more bullshit with the Innotech scale. The weighing area is much larger (although the total area isn't much larger) so the display isn't cluttered and the backlight means I don't need a flashlight. The next thing I noticed is that there are many more units. accessible. My old scale only had grams or pounds and ounces. In this scale there are these and two or three others. I don't remember all of them at the moment, nor do I personally need them, but it's nice to know they're there. Finally, I really like the large, flat glass weighing platform. My old scale has a small stainless steel face, almost convex. It was difficult to balance some things without detracting from the reading. I don't think I'll have that much trouble with this scale, at least not that often. The glass should also be a little easier to clean than old stainless steel glass. I don't have standards to verify the accuracy of these scales, but I spent some time weighing different things I could find in my kitchen and comparing them. The results from this scale are up against my old digital scale. Both scales matched exactly, so I have to conclude that this scale is accurate. At least they are as accurate as my old kitchen scale. The only thing the old scale could do that this one can't is measure an object as small as a gram, but I have a lab scale for objects this small (and smaller). My only concern is that this scale uses two watch batteries instead of AAA. Only the backlight bothers me. The batteries in my old scale lasted several years and were very cheap to replace. Watch batteries are a bit more expensive here. Time will tell whether these fears are justified. I also like this new scale. The old one will go to Goodwill soon.
