Review on Thinvik Computer Garmin Adjustable Touring by Pressure Cook

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works with my Garmin 520 and Cannondale Synapse AL

I bought this particular product because it offers an adjustable angle, a few small tools and 3 lengths of mounting screws. My setup called for the longest screws, which were about 5mm longer than average length; an additional $7 than competing products, well worth it. Please note that these are M5 screws. The instructions are naked cartoons. In fact, there are 4 mounting options. The two obvious ones are either the top pair or the bottom pair of handlebar pinch bolts. Removing the angle adjustment screw, folding over the front of the mount and reassembling gives 2 more. I did an inverted top pair setup; The up angle for the inverted install is limited to about 14 degrees, but it was more than I needed. Steel bolt, aluminum bracket and 2 extensions, plastic quarter-turn insert; 2 of them are available. The Garmin 1/4 turn insert is too big for this mount and the center distance of the bolts is 0.9mm different so you can't mount the Garmin insert from the back without drilling something. The included inserts are stamped GM (GarMin?), which some commenters have noted as weak. It seems less durable than the Garmin insert so I'll use a Garmin lanyard and test it out for a while before riding. One thing I noticed is that the 2 holes on the front end that are not used for the included insert are threaded. Why not drill all 4 holes and use them for Garmin devices and ditch the GoPro mount? The tools provided are a combination of Torx and Phillips wrenches, as well as 4mm and 1.5mm Allen keys. The kit also included a plastic mount for the GoPro mount and an elastic buckle. It seems suitable for a flashlight. The star was held back due to poor instructions, incompatibility with a Garmin quarter-turn insert, and silver screws; This bracket is finally black. I'll come back to this review after spending more time with this setup.
