Smearing the doors was on my to-do list, but as soon as we had our first child, this task was high on the list. A creaking door wakes a child. I went all over the house, pulling out a pen at a time, wiping it off, wiping the hinges with a paper towel, and putting this lube on them. They have been silent for about 5 months now. I tried spraying them with white grease but that didn't work for more than a few days. Using this tube definitely helped. TIP (Some of the door pins were rusty and even driving a nail in couldn't dislodge the pin, I had to put a "punch" in - a small bolt might have worked just as well, but the nail bends/absorbs too much energy.)
