I've found that they don't absorb water as well as the original equipment and they don't last as long as absorbent ones. Therefore, as a humidifier, it cannot effectively increase the humidity in the room. I use well water for the moisture and maybe it would be better if I used distilled water. I've never thought about it before, so I didn't expect to have to change something I've already done in the past! Also, it's not cheap!
