At first I didn't want to try this lock after reading online that pendants with security chains are being stolen and this lock didn't do anything about it. After looking at the design I figured I could use a cross to grab the chains so I went ahead and ordered one. I'm happy to report that it worked for me and my clutch and chains are safe now. I can't say it works in all cases, but it worked for me. I should add that the cross is too large in diameter to go through the link, but as you can see in the photo you can get the chain caught between the link and the cross so it can't be removed without that to crack the lock. Also, my hitch is welded to the frame, not bolted on, so I didn't have to worry about a thief unbolting the entire hitch and using his own. Now I feel safer leaving my trailer unattended.
