Not sure! There are so many safety features in this heater that they actually make it very UNSAFE. Even if you turn it off manually, if something falls or is accidentally placed on the heater, it will turn on. Example: When the heater is on (off) on a side table but the TV remote control was accidentally placed on it. It turns on, heats up and melts your remote control. Or if your mail/newspaper (or any paper) is on it, it will turn on and become a fire hazard. If you had to turn it on manually (after manually turning it off), that would be fine. I do not recommend.
