First of all, I'm happy with the device. Works without false alarms. I use it at about 500ft and it works every time. I had a few issues for other people to look at. This device uses 6 AA batteries in a cheap little holder. After just a few months, the internal connections on the battery holder began to rust and the unit stopped working unless I cleaned the connections almost daily. To solve this problem I assembled a 9 volt battery from 6 C cells soldered together with wires between the cells. It connects to a small terminal block on the circuit board where the original battery was connected. After that absolutely no problems. Also, C-cells last three times longer than AA-cells, potentially over a year! As another reviewer pointed out, the auxiliary contact is only rated for 5 amps at 28 volts DC. Be careful not to connect this to a large device. I used a small 12 volt relay and battery to transition to a larger contact. The ramp-up warning causes the relay to close, and then the relay sounds a loud buzzer to get my attention. Works great with very low power consumption through a small device relay. Another thing to watch out for. I mounted the transmitter on a flat wall outside. Snow collects on the top of the transmitter case. If it touches the antenna, the device will stop transmitting. Either protect the transmitter from snow or clean it regularly. Be careful when mounting the transmitter, the box is quite fragile and you can break off the mounting tabs very easily. The bottom line is that it works reliably and without false alarms. I would buy this again.
