The tracker works but kills the battery.

This is a great little GPS device, but it has a few drawbacks. The SinoTrack app is very useful. Cons: Drains your bike's battery if you don't ride your bike for a week or so. The setup codes are not intuitive and the SinoTrack app interface has limited functionality. Initially I just set this up with an auxiliary line from my bike and it worked, but only when the bike was on. That was fine with me at first, but it would be useless if the bike rolled into the truck's vise during clamping/pickup. After running a separate plus wire directly from the bike battery and connecting the bike's auxiliary wire to the device, I achieved full functionality. The disadvantage is that the device runs constantly. There doesn't seem to be a way to put it to sleep for hours or minutes to save battery life. Therefore, after the motorcycle has been idle for several days, the starter motor starts the motorcycle noticeably with difficulty. If the bike is not ridden for a week and a half, the battery will be so weak that the bike will not start. Two features that prevent this are turning off the tracker when the bike's battery voltage falls below a set level, or the sleep mode, which only turns on the GPS once every (10, 30, 60) minutes when the bike is off. I installed a quick connect plug from the battery to the charger so I can leave it plugged in in my garage. It also solves battery problems. The $5/month 3G service through Speed Talk works fine. Almost none of Sinotrack's settings work on this device. it would be ideal if it only worked when the bike is on) so you know where to start.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • No automatic steering
