Review on Kong EVO Elastic Tether Double by Tim Wheeler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Red-Yellow Insurance!

Love it but haven't tested it yet. It is designed to keep you on the boat in conditions that could cause you to fall and I* have not tried to fall. . . I'm in my 70's and my balance is slowly deteriorating. I'm afraid of falling when I'm on a boat (30ft sailboat) so I hold on most of the time as a preventive measure. This tether, combined with an inflatable lifejacket with integrated harnesses, is the least intrusive combination of maximum safety and minimum hassle that I could imagine. Two tethers allow you to move around the boat with lifting lines or be permanently attached to the boat in a series of hook, hook, hook, hook, hook, etc. d When I received the package I was surprised by the actual tag despite the clear image of Revain in the product description. The harness consists of a long piece of flat elastic webbing with a "human hook" sewn about 2/3 of the way down the webbing at the knots. The red hooks are intuitive and big enough to hang almost anything you need. The middle hook (a reliable carabiner) seems to me to be brass or bronze. The collar must be pulled down on the side of the snap hook so that the shackle can be opened. Easy to do with one hand with a little practice. The attached photos try to clarify my muddy description! In short, Double Tether is an insurance policy and like most insurance policies, it affects operations. Using harnesses to get around is slower, and hanging a sling over you is uncomfortable but bearable. I hope I'll never know if the rope is really keeping me on the boat!
