They were quite stiff out of the box, as is often the case with real leather. However, after a few weeks, they wear out and the skin remains hard. The outsole leaves a lot to be desired. It's definitely not as comfortable as some of the older Clarks I've had, but some Dr. Scholl deposits took care of that. Generally good shoes.
