I received this jacket about a week ago so this is a preview as I have not worn it in very cold weather or rain/snow yet. Once I do I will update this review. Still, I love this jacket. First, the pattern is much less visible on the jacket than it is in the Revain photos. It looks really black unless you look closely at it in good light. I'm glad because I think it looks more professional and I wear this coat to work. I like to wear it as a coat with a suit. The outer layer is completely waterproof. I held it under the sink for 60 seconds and the water just evaporated. The last jacket I had from Columbia wasn't that waterproof and I ended up smearing water repellent on it which was quite annoying. The outer layer is also very durable. So if you water it while hiking or skiing I would expect it to hold up with no problem. In terms of warmth, I was in my mid 30's in winds of 15-20 km/h and literally felt nothing under the jacket. And the "moisture-wicking" fabric seems to work, too. I was warm but completely dry and comfortable walking a mile or two in cold weather. The hood and zip collar provide excellent protection for the head and neck, although of course you will also need a hat in extreme cold. The zipper is also strong and smooth. The sleeves have elastic on the inner layer and drawstrings around the waist for wind protection. Both the inner and outer layers themselves are quite warm. As far as it fits me I'm 5ft 10in 165, waist 32 and shoulders 38 and I'm medium height. It fits well but has plenty of room for layers underneath and the sleeves come down to the first ankle and the arms are at the sides. Another thing I like is the all-temperature material on the inside of the case. First when it definitely seems to be working by reflecting body heat back to you. Second, the smoothness makes it too easy to put on and take off the coat without the shirt or sweater (or jacket) snagging on the sleeves. And for those worried about shiny spots, they're completely invisible while you're wearing the jacket. Finally, I have a cat and her hair clings to everything I have and is particularly visible on black dresses, but thankfully her hair doesn't cling to this jacket at all. I live in North Jersey and will be traveling to Utah in December so will have an update on cold weather performance soon. UPDATE: Well I got through a couple of cold days and the coat held up pretty well. In my mid-30s, I'm quite comfortable in a jacket without a hint of cold. I was under 20 with about 15 mph wind and then you could get a little cold through the coat but still mostly comfortable. I also only wore a thin button-down shirt because I wanted to test the coat. If I had put on a tank top and sweater like I usually do in these temperatures, I think I would easily be in the teens or single digits.
