I have several Fiskars over 35 that still work but I need a fallback solution. They have a visible all-metal hinge. Reliable, easy to clean and maintain. Designed in the USA and manufactured in Vietnam, these new models feature a plastic-coated hinge. Metal screw against plastic. There is no way to determine the quality or durability of a hinge or what it is made of. I'm concerned how long they will last. The plastic coated hinge makes it difficult to clean and lubricate the hinge. In fact, oil can damage the stem if it's plastic. Of course there is a lifetime guarantee but would the process be more expensive and buying a new pair of scissors and they can just say it is normal wear and tear and not covered by the lifetime guarantee. ? I keep them and am looking for better scissors.
