I bought this adapter to bypass the noisy microphone input on my ASUS x99 Sabertooth motherboard. After hours of troubleshooting my mic hiss/background noise, I came across a very interesting detail - even without a mic plugged into the jack, the hissing could be heard with "Listen to this device" enabled! This noise could be heard during VoIP calls and gaming sessions, and while you could hear my voice through the noise, it was very annoying. Microphone, but I had no problems with the microphone level. The adapter also uses "AGC" or automatic gain control on the microphone input, which greatly increases the output volume without noticeable hiss/noise. I am 100% satisfied with this purchase and wish I had bought the adapter sooner rather than spending countless hours troubleshooting issues with ASUS Tech Support.
