Let me start by saying that an unsealed mortar in my house is my enemy. (I still don't understand why the builder didn't open the unsealed mortar, but I digress.) For six years, the unsealed mortar mocked my being. It sucks up all sorts of dirty water molecules from the mop, as if to say - the more you clean, the worse I look. The fight was real. I tried this product without high hopes - I've tried everything to no avail. However, I am pleasantly surprised. Although the grout isn't perfect, this product has shown the greatest improvement. With one more pass in some particularly hard-to-reach spots, I think I'm ready to seal the mortar and declare victory in my ongoing battle. There was no smell to speak of, just a bit of grease on the elbows. After using the stirring brush, I scrubbed my hands and knees to get the most out of the process. All in all a very good product. A second pass is required in some areas, so I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5.
