Everything about this coffee maker met or exceeded my expectations. (With a disclaimer at the end of the review.) I've heard that all "French presses" leave a very small amount of coffee grounds in the coffee. Everyone said it was a small prize for the best cup of coffee that is easy to make at home. One even said this fatness was a "badge of honor". Well I've been using my Bodum for a few weeks now and I still haven't noticed any coffee grounds in my coffee. Maybe one day the submersible strainer will deform a bit if I drop it on the ground? At this point, however, the edges of the bulb are perfectly flush with the glass. It really is the best coffee I've ever had. i love this shop My advice: buy good coffee. Know your beans and make sure they are very coarse (especially for a french press). Find a local brazier and buy it direct. Now for a word of caution: this thing doesn't produce a "four cups" in the American sense of the word "cup". It holds about 16 oz. That's two cups. I think they call it a four cup press because it holds four mocha cups, which is a lot closer to half a cup. If you like a tall cup of coffee in the morning, or fill up an insulated travel mug, this is only enough for one person at a time. Sixteen ounces again. That's about a serving of Starbucks Grande, or a little more than a box of Dunkin' Donuts.
