This was one of those situations where you need a simple item and ordering should be quick and easy. But the more you watch and the more you read, the more critical you become. It's coarse enough to rub the dirt off the potatoes. It's not so rough that you can't use it for anything else. I think the only thing I wouldn't use it for is tomatoes. I didn't really care about the shape - it's the right size, it's plastic so you can get your pen wet (why some of them are wooden I'll never know) and you should buy this one and live with it to return . . No signs of wear after a few uses. A brief breakdown of my rating system (which you can see on my profile, I use the full range of 1 to 5): 5 STARS - The item is exactly what I expected and does the job. I would definitely buy again and don't feel like buying an upgrade. 4 STARS - The item may have a small flaw that does not affect functionality. I wouldn't actively buy an upgrade, but will consider buying a different type next time. 3 STARS - works but not impressive. I would only buy it again if I absolutely couldn't find anything better. 2 STARS - does not do the job. I wouldn't buy it again but I might keep using it while I shop if I get desperate. 1 STAR - Doesn't do the job and is so bad that I actually refuse (or can't) use it for long periods of time. I would actively advise against buying again.
