Babies poo, pee and spit a lot. And it seems to happen more often when you change them than when you don't. At first we bought three of these earbuds thinking one would last at least a day - we were sorely wrong! Our baby seemed to enjoy seeing how quickly he could feed one, then two, then three in one day. We quickly bought three more so now we have at least enough to last a average couple of days without a wash. Our child tested these earplugs very well. Even if there is enough liquid for a full diaper, nothing penetrates the velvety changing mat underneath. The covers do get a small saliva stain over time but there is no smell and I don't care how things look as long as they save me from having to clean a different item (whatever is underneath) every day or two! that you should NOT tumble dry these pads - you'll ruin them quickly. Wash them with the rest of your child's dirty laundry, then take them out and hang them to dry. They usually dry within a few hours and stay as good as new. I'd recommend buying six (at least!) unless your child pees or spits up too much.
