Review on πŸ”Œ Ethernet Patch Cable for Networking with Router Support by Alfonso Tipton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A generic ethernet cable is fine, but not very good.

Since most of the reviews on this site are 5 stars and the reviewers got a cable discount, I decided to write an unbiased review that covers the actual performance of the cable and explains why it's fine. , and not much. First, if you compare it to most other CAT 6 cables, you'll find that it's pretty flimsy. I cut off one of the connectors because I connected one end to a patch panel. Wire gauge seems very good, maybe 26 or 28 AWG instead of the 23 AWG I'm used to. Also, the insulation on each wire is very thin. The wires are not single-core (as written in the description), but multi-core. In order to ensure good performance, the cable has a cross-shaped plastic pair separator in the middle. It separates each of the four pairs from each other. Second, the connector is decent quality - no complaints. Overall, this generic ethernet cable is probably best suited for use with a gaming console or streaming console and should work well in this application. I was planning to use it with a PoE IP camera and after seeing the lightweight design I decided to just use the cable reel I had and crimp the new connector on the end (I hate crimp connectors really and wanted to avoid that). ). If you're running any type of PoE application or need a cable with a solid construction, I recommend buying something more durable.
