This is more than I expected for the price so I'm giving it a 5 star rating with a HUGE CAUTION that absolute beginners shouldn't start with it, they should spend the extra money instead. to get one of the other slightly more expensive soldering kits that come with an attached soldering iron holder (not the cheap flip-out ones from this kit) and a sponge (you'll need to clean the tip frequently). This kit also provides only the essentials with getting started instructions on the back of the box. This is enough to run the device, but not enough to use it responsibly or store it for regular use. I'm new to soldering, working in tight spaces with flammable objects nearby, making connections difficult. I got this kit because I figured I would only need to hook up a few wires to change the pickups on a couple of my guitars and that I wouldn't need a more expensive setup for long term use. I managed to break the stand of the included iron stand within 2 hours of working on my first guitar and couldn't continue as I didn't know of any safe way to place the iron between the joints without holding it for a few minutes and wait for it. refrigerate each. I briefly considered putting it in a spare mug as a holder, but that could end up snagging the cord and yanking the hot iron out of the mug onto anything near me. If you have an instructor to guide you every step of the way, or you've already bought your own sponge and holder, this may not be a problem for you. But if you're a total beginner, you've got nothing but YouTube tutorials to learn from, and you've never bought anything to solder. Save hours of stress and buy a more complete set.
