Review on Experience the Superior Performance of ๐Ÿšด Pearl Izumi Men's X-Project 1.0 Cycling Shoe by Eddie Simpkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great but another better option for me at a much lower price

I tried 10 clip on shoes to rate them for aggressive mountain biking - cross country with aggressive descents (didn't ride them just tried on fit/feel) these were my best 2 or 3 after trying 9 (all other options are $75-$250 LESS, first 3 were like this, gyro cam (great but heavy was just an issue), mavic anything or other elite) but I was having a very hard time deciding, tried on one last pair - Shimano M200 - the second when I put them on, my decision was simple - most comfortable, lightest, best closure system, went for a whopping 213 $ less on sale (since I've used them at least a dozen times, I've read some long life tests from bike magazines that break and wear out after 3 months - I didn't know that before I bought it, hope mine didn't) Back to the Izumi gem: pros have good reviews for long-term reliability, have a cool design concept where the outsole is stiff for climbing, but two-piece carbon fiber is better than flex, to make walking easier Get off the bike and hike pretty stiff compared to all the other new shoes I've tried. The great tensioner/ratchet system seems to be fairly well ventilated (let the price stand in the way of what will hopefully be a long-term investment). Fairly stiff in comparison new Most I've tried in terms of overallness/comfort/price of the other pair couldn't even come close to justifying almost triple the price for them. I'm still giving these 4 stars as they are great shoes and should at least be tried on by anyone looking for clip on mountaineering boots for XC bikes.

Pros
  • Cycling
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
