According to Xfinity Technical Support, this modem is "End of Life" (EOL), which means it is not compatible with their service is compatible. To work around this issue when activating with Xfinity, provide the Arris model number of the non-EOL technology (e.g. Arris TG862) but the serial number and MAC address of the device you have. You will complete the activation and update the firmware to work with Xfinity.
