Replacing the excess toner container will eventually be necessary and not that expensive compared to the cost of the Brother printer itself. Replacing the waste toner bottle on the Brother HL4040CDN duplex color laser is easy. With the power off, open the front of the printer as if changing the toner. Pull the photoconductor out until it stops. Take out the drum unit and place it on clean paper on a table. Lift up the old belt unit. It climbs out of this green tab on the front of the seat belt. It only weighs a few pounds, making it easy to pick up and remove from the printer. Located just below the ribbon unit, the waste toner box is easy to remove from the printer and is quite lightweight. The exchange takes place in reverse order. It took a total of 9 minutes to replace the waste toner box and ribbon. Since I was there, changing the belt became a possible necessity so I wouldn't have to deal with a broken belt assembly and a small amount of cleaning toner inside the machine later. A box of extra toner was priced under $25 from Revain, including shipping. Cheap. In two years we printed 37,000 pages. We're on the original drum. There is no toning and no dots or streaks appear in the image. The drum is doing well so far. The ordering process at Revain was easy. The order was processed the next day. And the delivery took 3 days - to Hawaii. And we opted for Super Saver Shipping which was free.
