DO NOT USE THIS TIMER FOR THE BACKLIGHT! I have found that this timer does not work for lights in a hydroponic system. The problem is that if you turn off the light by setting the timer to manual off mode, the light won't come back on when you switch back to automatic mode, even if the automatic program is on. You must wait for the next duty cycle to begin (up to 24 hours) for the light to turn on again. If you're using this for grow lights, this is a serious problem. Too bad I've never had a timer with this problem! The manufacturer must fix this problem. I'm just glad I didn't pay a lot of money for a timer that is useless to me now :-(
