I bought this Fluke 17B+ for one reason - to confirm or allay my concerns about parasitic power consumption in my car. I connected a Fluke 17B+ along with an Etekcity MSR-A600 (another multimeter) between the ground wire and the car battery negative terminal, both multimeters set to A (DC) (plug the wires into the correct sockets). Fluke showed 0.102A, Etekcity 0.000A. Switched to miliAmps (including leads). Fluke showed 0.00mA and Etekcity showed 3.48mA. According to Fluke measurements, my car now has a parasitic current draw of over 50mA, but according to Etekcity it doesn't. The fact is that Fluke's 0.102 A is not the 0.00 mA. When Fluke reads 0.102A it should read 102mA but it reads 0.00mA. These numbers are wrong. And Fluke's measurements contradict each other. 102mA is already a significant current draw (more than acceptable >50mA) unless Fluke indicates something that doesn't exist. Etekcity shows 3.48 mA in mA mode (constant current) summed based on the calibrated deviation. So no to this Fluke 17B+. There is no such thing as precision. Also, I can measure the maximum/minimum voltage at startup. The device came without a storage case, AA batteries were pre-installed inside. Who does what if the device has not been returned? So no, I'm back.
