OEM filters don't seem to be available anymore, at least at the time of writing this review. Instead, I bought this set of 2 Flintar 3-in-1 H13 filters. I still had my original filter for comparison. As I pulled it out, I noticed that the first layer screen was full of dust and dog hair. A good sign that he is doing his job! But a bad sign I should have replaced it sooner! Yes, my filter change light is on. Years. may be. In any case, there is also a foam sealing ring along the outer diameter of the standard filter. This helps place it in the cleaner and create a seal that prevents and reduces particles that could try to get through the filter and be recirculated back into the room. Then I opened my flintar box and pulled out one. First I noticed a large amount of carbon on the inner filter layer. You can actually see and hear the parts move when you shake them. It was nice to know they were there and not just a marketing ploy. Then I noticed the same o-ring, although it was a little thicker, making it a little harder to get in and out of the cleaner body. Honestly this was welcome as installing a new filter didn't make things more difficult but I felt it would provide a better seal. Finally I turned on the air purifier and set it to high and noticed that there was now more air coming out of the top, but it was also a bit quieter. It seems that the old, clogged filter really affected the efficiency of the work. In general, I was very wary of these replacements, but now I'm sold. I will continue to buy them while they are available!
