The box arrived in good condition. The wood doesn't have much odor, if any, from the crate. It really did look like the Grinch was crouching all the way inside the box. It's easy to assemble, although I probably spent about 3 hours shaking it up. I am 5ft tall and assembled a 7.5ft tree myself. The tree is beautiful when it is fluffed up. The number of lights is perfect and they all seem to be working. It really has a very realistic look for the $240 price I paid. The only quirks I've found so far have been: a dead bulb with a bunch of extra bulbs attached. However, they all appear to be red and yellow, definitely not blue or green onions. The green wire attached to the branches was a pain. Almost too heavy to pluck the lower branches to open. I plan to use twine for storage and tie each layer separately for easier batting next year. Some branches have a strange roughness, but this is not obvious after installation. after Season 1: The tree stood for more than a month with the lights on for several hours a day. There are no dead sections, I didn't notice a single dead bulb when folding. It feels a bit rougher when lowering the arms than when raising them. But that could be because my hands are pretty dry at the moment. The tree's current price of $495 is more than I would pay. Season 5 After years of using and replacing numerous burned out lightbulbs, I unfortunately have a cord in the middle that is half dead. Hopefully I can find the mistake so I don't have to swap out the whole strand. Decommissioned tree after 5 seasons. The tree could have lasted a few more years but the lights are all broken and need to be replaced. I received a replacement bearing offer for less than $70. This tree doesn't feel as full or thorny but still looks beautiful, especially for the price.
