Review on πŸ”§ Transform Rust with Rust-Oleum Automotive 248659: Powerful 8-Ounce Rust Reformer Bottle in Sleek Black by Richard Orozco

Here's what you need to know

This product converts rust. If you don't have rust, next to nothing. You should use a needle scaler and a wire brush on a drill to scrape any flaking rust off the surface, and then scrape the rust off so it forms a small layer on the metal. Then 2-3 coats of this product will make everything black. Basically it's like an iron pan after a long cooking time. Once you have a black coat that doesn't show any rust, you need to apply a coat or two of paint to the surface. Then if you want (e.g. for the bottom of the car) a CRC 06026 Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor coating to protect it from rust for a long time. I only give the product 4 stars because the bottle is too small and narrow and easily tips over causing spills. Also remember to shake the contents well as the liquid will do strange things once it sits. Pour only what you need into another mug because you can't pour leftovers back into the bottle. Please note that the bottle only measures 8 ounces so is smaller than it looks. You can apply with wire acid brushes or even regular brushes that can be reused by rinsing with water. It's okay if it touches your skin for a short time, but eye protection is a must. This is not the same product found in a can of rust converter. The spray also contains a black primer and is good for small, light spots of rust where you only want to see the beginning of the rust and want to cover it up and then apply another coat of paint.
