Review on ⚡ Anker USB C to Lightning Cable (6ft) Powerline+ III MFi Certified for iPhone 13 Pro Max, AirPods Pro – Silver by Andy Edwards

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks great; Less robust

Update (08/15/2020): Anker's customer service contacted me as usual and sent me a replacement. They care about customer satisfaction so it's always refreshing. After using the cable for a few weeks I can at least say that it has lasted longer than the first one. However, I can't say more because I won't be specifically testing it for strength/breaking the cable to see if it breaks easily or not. This replacement cable doesn't change the fact that the original cable failed very quickly/easily, so I can't in good conscience say this is a great cable, when it may not be. I've upped my rating because Anker is a great company and I've had no issues with this cable "so far". I'm cautiously optimistic. Initial review (7/13/20): I just received my silver USB-C to Lighting Powerline+ III cable five days ago, along with two other USB-C to USB-C cables from the same line. Wanted to swap out my Powerline+ II cables for something higher quality and I love the look of them. Unfortunately, after five days of use, the Lightning connector broke off. Bonus. However, this metal does not fully secure the lighting connector. Instead, the lighting connector is surrounded by rubber (or plastic), which is then covered by metal. This allows the lighting connector to flex as it is supported by the rubber as the single rubber provides resistance to fore and aft flexing. If the connector had been shielded with metal instead, I doubt that would have been a problem. In general, Anker makes great products and on the very rare occasion that issues can arise, their customer service is top notch/one of the best. However, this is the rare case when the product is not as good as it seems. Maybe I have a defective cable, I don't know. But the rubber surrounding the ports doesn't seem secure and looks like it could be an issue for others as well. I have attached photos to show what I mean. I've bought a few premium cables from Anker over the years. Anker is my favorite cable and power supply brand, for me Anker is the best in this regard. This is the first time I have felt that an Anker product is defective. But it could also be that the cable you received was defective. I had no problems with the previous Powerline+ II cable for a year. It feels stronger, rolls better (the new, thinner cable is so tightly coiled, prone to kinking and doesn't lay flat or lie flat, the thicker previous cable doesn't have this issue). Maybe Anker will fix the mounting issues, but until then I recommend getting a cheaper Powerline+ II cable.
