Buy in pairs. Correction stay away.

I always buy external drives in pairs, one as a backup for the other. I've had a lot of success with the WD Passports but they were cheaper at the time of purchase and I have to say they were very good but they made an odd little squeak/squeak from time to time especially when loaded. A bit worrying but so far they have never let me down even when I edited videos directly from or to them. Would I buy again? Maybe. NO. A few days after I wrote this above, one of the drives on one of my computers became unrecognizable, so I retract my comments above and will no longer be buying Seagate drives - I've had 4 full size versions (the ones that You could change drives without disconnecting them) a few years ago, and now there are only two that I believe are still working but not used. Even more amazing (correct use of the word) news about Seagate hard drives. I have a Drobo although it's a 2nd gen that still works, I have WD and Seagate drives, yesterday one of the Seagate Barracuda drives (1TB) died. Much older WDs still work. To those who claim that it is not the hard drive that fails, but the case - sorry, they dismantled the 2TB expansion, put the hard drive in another case (Inateck), the hard drive is unrecognizable, dead, like the famous one Parrot, it will sooner Collect daisies, sing with an invisible choir. So if you decide to risk a brutal amount of data on one of those horrible drives, better buy a second one, or even better buy from a different manufacturer, but still buy in pairs, you'll thank yourself one day.
