Review on Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens - Compatible with Canon DSLR Cameras (Lens Only) by Shaun Jdi ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Beyond praise! The product definitely deserves your attention.

If you want to shoot right now, and not expect the mythical “go to full frame” and “a fleet of expensive weatherproof electrics without a single gram of plastic”, then feel free to take this lens. It is certainly worth its money and has no alternatives either in terms of ease of use (AF, stabilizer) or in terms of picture quality - sharpness is already excellent at f / 2.8, colors are as close to natural as possible. . After more than 2 years of use under a UV filter, the dust did not suck.

Pros
  • Convenient FR range on 1.6 crop, 3-stop stabilizer, convenient weight and size of the camera with a lens (40D), excellent sharpness, constant aperture, silent, fast, accurate focusing, all focal lengths can be used with an open aperture.
Cons
  • It is better to wind the protective filter immediately after purchase in order to prevent foreign particles (dust, moisture) from getting inside the lens (although the same applies to protected L-lenses), when zooming, the “trunk” is pulled out, which, with prolonged use, may start to spontaneously move out with the lens , turned front line down, unstable quality - it is necessary to carefully check the accuracy of hitting the focus at a wide angle, it is highly desirable to align the lens immediately under warranty for free (although this applies to everyone). In some (not all) stores the price is unpleasantly high. Hood, pouch and red stripe not included. The frame is plastic, but with careful use it will not let you down. There is 17mm vignetting at f/2.8.
