Didn't work for me: Surge Protector

I wanted this to turn the LED indicator (slave) on or off when the TV (master) is turned on and off - so I can tell if the TV was on or not. I needed this because my streaming player is sleeping and sending blacks to the TV, and the new TV has such deep blacks that you can't tell if it's just black or actually off. But this device did not fulfill its main function of turning on or off the slave device when the master device (TV) is turned on or off. The slave stayed on the whole time. The TV consumes less than 7 watts when switched off, so that should be below the threshold.
