Review on πŸ’» Enhanced Viewing Monitor ViewSonic VA2055SM: 1920X1080P, 75Hz, Blue Light Filter by Vangele Beck

Great portable monitor.

I was looking for a portable monitor (20" or smaller) with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and digital input (HDMI or DVI). It was the only monitor that met those criteria. Lower resolution panels (e.g. 1600x900/1366x768). There are also a few small USB-powered monitors, but they don't support proper HDMI/DVI input, relying instead on sending video data over a USB cable over DisplayLink. (This means they don't properly support 3D graphics cards and often suffer from lag/compression artifacts). In terms of image quality, I was pleasantly surprised by this monitor. The "SuperClear" MVA panel actually looks brighter and has a higher contrast ratio than my 24" IPS monitor standing next to it. I'm curious if the ViewSonic MVA panel is actually a P-MVA, S-MVA or A-MVA panel. Regardless, it looks good and is pleasing to the eye. The only drawback of the panel is the relatively slow (25ms GTG) response time. For fast-action gaming, this might not be an ideal choice, as ghosting/blurring can occur during fast-paced scenes or when scrolling through a document. For casual gaming, document editing, web browsing, etc., this shouldn't be the case. In terms of portability, the monitor is lightweight and the stand easily attaches/detaches without screws for storage in a travel bag. The monitor also consumes only 18W at full brightness, allowing for battery-powered use. analog audio combo, especially since a monitor has built-in speakers. (ViewSonic, if you're reading these reviews - I'd happily pay another $10-$15 for this monitor with built-in HDMI. Please consider that for a future model!) Either way, this is another great ViewSonic product, and I am happy with my purchase PROS: 1920 x 1080 resolution High brightness/contrast ratio DVI input Built-in speakers CONS: Slightly slow response time No HDMI input

Pros
  • The only drawback is that it doesn't have an HDMI port.
Cons
  • There is no HDMI port. Bad for business! It's like buying a dot matrix printer these days.
