Revainrating 5 out of 5

Detailed calibration reports (three samples)

This is an excellent monitor that outperforms it in terms of contrast. I have three of these screens; I bought two of these from the Revain store. Now they are all calibrated with DisplayCAL using ColorMunki Photo and i1DisplayPro. My settings included: 2.2 Gamma Tone Curve, XYZ LUT + Matrix and I used 11,140 test patches. 0.48 Maximum Ξ”E: 1.41 --- 1.84 --- 1.78 Static contrast: 3223 --- 4778 --- 5081 (:1) Black level: 0.0144 --- 0.0093 -- - 0.0088 (cd/m2) white value at 0% brightness: 46.4 --- 44.4 --- 44.7 (cd/m2) ---------- ----- ------------- The manufacturer advertises a static contrast ratio of only 3000:1, so this monitor does more than it promises. Of my three monitors, even the almost outlandish 3223 is just over specification. However, the other two exceeded my expectations and far exceeded their specs. Another unexpected surprise was the anti-reflective coating. The surface is bright, perhaps almost semi-glossy, so text is very clear and the image is very clean compared to (for example) many older Dell monitors. And considering the small size (19.5 inches), it offers 113 pixels per inch (PPI). For comparison, you've probably seen a 23-inch 1080 monitor before; Her PPI is 95.8. And 27-inch monitors with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 only offer 108.8 PPI, so: The image with this ViewSonic is sharper than with these specimens. I wish it had better coverage of the sRGB color space, but that's not bad. I would also like the minimum brightness to be a bit lower. Despite these small glitches, I'm very happy with this screen; I have three of these among my three 4k IPS monitors and they are almost the perfect size for this application. In my opinion, the main disadvantage of this monitor is the illogical placement of the buttons. The same button that opens the menu is the button that goes back in the OSD, but I expect it to go forward. Similarly confusing is the back button next to the up button (the one that increases a setting instead of decreasing it). Again, this is the downside of intuitive design. A little about me: I'm a portrait photographer, computer science student and maybe a fan of displays.
