Much better than it should be for the price! I first heard about this mic from Booth Janky and was surprised by his review. He compared it to the MKH 416 and said it was almost as good and didn't see any difference. Well, when I do the same comparison, I don't see any difference either! If you really isolate, control all the variables and listen in the perfect environment then you can definitely hear the difference and the 416 sounds better. But there are so many other factors making it impossible to tell the difference that it really blurs the line where it's worth spending almost 4x more for actually the same quality. I use this on my desk where it is permanently mounted overhead and it sounds so good. You should buy a shock-absorbing mount for this microphone. The attached clip is terrible. I mean it holds the mic well, but it's hard to use and transfers any vibration from the stand right into the mic. This microphone offers unbeatable value for money. Skip 416 if you don't charge your customers for 416.
