Review on Pentax D FA F2.8ED SDM WR 15-30mm f/2.8: The Ultimate Pentax K Ultra-Wide Angle Zoom Lens by Douglas Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good color rendering and sharpness.

I love this lens, did some architecture photography last Saturday and the color reproduction surprised me. I usually use a polarizer, but this lens is not very suitable for use without a significant investment. To my surprise, it created an insane amount of blue in the sky without using it. It was also very sharp, but that's fairly common with most lenses in this range. It's one of two lenses offered by Pentax that are mostly outsourced to Tamron. I've seen people claim they've just been renamed, but I've had a chance to compare them side-by-side and they're definitely different. coated, the autofocus behaves differently. I suspect Tamron used a lot of internal and external barrel mounts, but if you play along with them you can see that Pentax incorporated a lot of their own requirements, technology and processes into their version, so I wouldn't call it Tamron's sister lens . , more like kissing cousins. Keystone distortion at 15mm was to be expected, but easily fixed in Lightroom as well. Absolutely gorgeous landscape lens, don't leave home without it.
