Aside from requiring you to have an ignition source (spark or flame) in your tool kit, this thing is made to last. I made sure the butane was empty before loading it into my luggage tool bag. Make sure you pack a note for TSA or your country's travel security agency detailing that you evacuated all the gas or that it could be a gift to someone else! The device had a stable outside temperature. I used it to terminate a submerged cable splice. I think if the TSA doesn't confiscate it, it will travel in my pocket for years. The metal body is a plus, but not shockproof.
