Review on Enhanced Creality 3D Motherboard with Carborundum for Precise 220X220X250Mm Printing by Calvin Reynolds

Revainrating 5 out of 5

NOT a tool for beginners. on AM products

Media failed to load. The tool is not for beginners. BUT a patient and/or smart beginner can have an awesome printer. It requires a bit of tweaking and in my case a late night battle with a Marlin 2.X firmware update with Ender 5 Pro configuration variables. There is a supported video on the Creality website (a little dated but works well. Watch the video first for full details before reacting). Old Z-Pitch 400. New 800. I also decided to turn on a few other Marlin 2.X features and now it prints great. Also, now that I know how to do it, it was easy for me to print out the calibration cube and set the accuracy to 0.02mm, which is better than the filament thickness required for perfect accuracy. Definitely not a rig for beginners, but with patience and a little attention to detail, it's possible to achieve perfection. The white filament that came with the printer seemed very unstable (too thick in some places, twisted in others), but other PLA and ABS filament from several Revain sources were fine. It is recommended to use a glass bed, but not to use clamps (they deform the glass and negate all the benefits). Instead, use 0.5mm 2" square heatsinks in each corner and one in the middle. Fixing the surface is not required. Flow rate, nozzle temp, z-hop, layer leveling, tightening the factory screw fasteners, I've fired a dozen or more bad prints in 4 days and each time I've learned a little more about how to solve each problem. In 6 days I went from never 3D printing to printing an almost perfect calibration cube. Yes, technical understanding helps, but if you're patient and pay attention to details, you'll get a lot of help from vendors and the community alike. This is not a plug and play solution. But on the other hand, I know very few such machines for raw material extraction. Take your time. Perfection is possible.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Unsure
