There are several types of digital cooking thermometers: 1) those that read "instantly" and are not meant to be left on the grill or in the meat, and 2 ) Those left in the oven. The thermometers to stay in the oven can be further divided into remote reading or not. Both have their pros and cons, but I prefer the immediate reading. And in some cases (like pork and chicken), being a few degrees undercooked can be potentially dangerous. This thermometer is inexpensive and fully functional. The seller seems nice, caring about the buyer and making sure the item fits. I think it's a good buy but I'll report back when I have more experience with it.
