I've only had this tray for a year and am in the process of buying another one as it does everything as advertised and has made my life as a cat mom easier! The only difference between me and other buyers is that I bought a permanent litter box (also from Revain) as well as a cheaper crystal filler at my local grocery store. Although I have to clean the permanent shell rather than just tossing it in the trash, this has proven to be a much cheaper option than expensive replacement shells and makes me feel a lot better without being too wasteful and no longer impacting our local landfills. than I already do. I just lift the main unit, pull out the tray, put it in a bag and empty the bin. About once a month I wash the tray in the bath with soap and water, although this is not very appropriate. Also, the crystals I buy - "Mimi Litter" - are only $5 a pack at Walmart! These packs last about 2-3 weeks and they work the same as ScoopFree replacement trays. I've had no issues with my cats not having transition issues - they will go anywhere there is trash! For the record, I have three cats and they all use this litter box with no problem (in combination with another non-automatic litter box). It does an excellent job of picking up their number 2 and masking the smell of their number 1. I recommend this to all cat owners who are tired of picking up cat poo and inhaling the inevitable dust!
