This is my first portable evaporative cooler; I used to have bigger ones. While I like the portability of the device, I'm surprised at how loud it can be. The noise level fluctuates during use, which is a bit strange for me - sometimes I have to turn it off when answering calls. Even with a full water tank at the lowest level, I can't get to "up to 8 hours" of operation. I was a little disappointed with the delivery - it was sent in the original packaging. I had to return my first purchase as it arrived damaged. I would recommend this product - it's cheap and does the job. Let's see how long it lasts :)
