After searching everywhere for a large kennel to use for my ridged turtles, I settled on this one. I chose it based on size as my boys are still growing and I needed it big enough to hang a heater. The house arrived in two boxes and the first thing that struck me was that the instructions didn't help much. I went ahead and laid it all out in my living room to see how it would fit together and after looking at the instructions a lot I finally noticed that all the flat pieces had tiny numbers on them. I put all the pieces together to create the base, paying special attention to which corner supports were for the front and which were for the back, then pulled everything out to begin assembly. After getting over the frustrating instructions and assembling the base, the rest was pretty easy. It comes together like a log cabin with alternating pieces on the side, side, front, back. Then the next row, side, side, front, wrong side. Do this in circles and you will eventually reach the top. Unfortunately, when I got to the top I realized that when I got outside I was changing my corner supports, so I built the whole thing backwards. I was ready to rip him to pieces, but then I decided to put him on his back to see if he would stay together. This happened and I was able to slide off the four corner supports and then carefully slide them back in the correct order. After that I lifted it up by inserting the thumbscrews. Everything was put together very closely. I reinstalled the floor, which fell out when I turned it back and forth, then added the roof. Since this was for tortoises ranging from 3 to 20 pounds, the bottom lip at the entrance was too high, so I built some steps out of brick and screwed a lid onto the top of the door, then hung a heavy cloth over the bottom half. that they can withdraw for boarding and disembarking. I added a hanging heating lamp and that was it. I have two 150w ceramic heaters but only one is on and the house is always warm and comfortable. So far there have been 41 here and it was still warm inside. I am happy with my purchase and I think the dog will really like the house. I would also definitely buy a flap for the dog.
