I've had a larger Microplane for a long time, but decided to give this one a try because it does everything you want to do with ginger in one tool, saving you time Washing multiple tools. Well, the grater worked fine, the scraper cleans the ginger perfectly, but the slicer doesn't deliver wafer-thin slices as described. I thought I might have a defective part as I also had trouble installing the guard. So I ordered another one in black, this time for comparison. The slicer still didn't give me thinner slices, but the guard was easier to snap in and out. Also, black offered the best contrast to red.
