Received the racks today and installed them a few minutes ago on my 2008 Odyssey replacing the original racks which no longer carried much weight if any. the impression is very positive. When I release the latch on the tailgate, the struts lift it to the fully open position at a reasonable rate. Closing the tailgate isn't as easy as it used to be with old, tired struts, but the effort required is about what I would expect in a new car. Removing the old shelves was very easy. A flat head screwdriver (medium size) easily pry the metal bracket at each attachment point of the old upright and you simply remove the upright (while someone is holding the tailgate of course). Replace the first brace removed before removing the second. Installing the new rack took just a few seconds. You simply line up the first ball connector on the car and press or tap on it until you hear a click. Do the same for the second connector, but you may have to rotate the connector and ask your helper to raise or lower the tailgate a bit to align everything. The posts have special Odyssey connectors screwed into each end. Before assembly, make sure that both ends are screwed in almost to the limit. You don't need to tighten them, but you do need to make sure they don't unscrew where only a few threads hold them and your plug-to-plug spacer is too long.
