I got the idea from a friend but I use these 6 liter shoe storage bins. I have an incredible number of shoes (I'm both proud and embarrassed by the crowd) and these baskets are perfect for a size 10 men's dress and trainers. I would say that this is the maximum capacity of a container of this size. I have attached pictures but the idea is to keep the shoes clean between wearings. I have so many of these they just don't wear out enough to get dirty and I'm tired of dusting them off when I need them. The containers are by no means airtight or watertight, but they do prevent dust from collecting. Note. This solution replaces the cheap hangers above the door that inevitably break under the weight and I will most likely convert it into a closet. for detergents, rags and brushes.
