After losing my dog for 5 days and nights I was looking for a GPS tracker in case it ever happens again. I bought a Garmin unit which was probably good but not for my needs. I wanted something more for trail running with my dog, but it was too bulky for everyday use. Then I bought a fi collar. I'm just saying it was a joke. Not only did my dog's collar fall off while walking, the tracking was useless too. I couldn't even use this service to locate the collar despite having good coverage on my phone. The app was terrible on many levels. I then bought a Tractive collar and I have to admit I was skeptical, mainly because of the price, but it works great. I can't believe how good this product is and I would happily spend more money. I've been using it for a few weeks now and the GPS is very reliable and the app is great too. It really works for you, rather than forcing you to use it the way a company like Fi wants you to. It shows where you are next to the collar, unlike the previously mentioned collar, and also has an on/off switch. The app has what you need, not a bunch of unnecessary information which I think is pointless if you just want to find your dog. So if you're looking for a collar that's affordable and works great, get the collar from Tractive.
