Every few years the district gives us a new laptop which I use everyday for work. I bought a case for my latest laptop and it protects it and keeps my computer in good condition. Limited dirt and no scratches. The bottom cover broke near the end but it lasted about 5 years. I wanted a stronger lid and found this lid to be thick and feel a bit thicker. There is an apple cutout on the front and you can see how thick the lid is. However, I noticed that the lid and base are packaged separately. They use a universal bottom and give every top the same bottom. The floor looks like my old computer floor that broke. (Yes, it's been on my computer for 5 years). I'm not picky about my stuff. I also keep my computer in my computer bag when not in use. That's what I think. I would buy it again. Here's my advice: don't remove covers if your laptop has one. He kept the ground in better shape and didn't let it break early. The top is pretty thick. This should stand the test of time when you know things will eventually degenerate and break. Good value for money. By the way, you get two rubberized keyboard pads to keep your computer keys clean.
