This was a near perfect solution to replace a broken cover on an original 2009 RX key. I describe it as "nearly perfect" because while the end result was quite satisfactory, I encountered two problems. First, the screw attached to the lid is not a mounting screw like the original. It's a tiny self-tapping screw, and therein lies the problem. A pre-drilled hole in the bushing requires excessive torque to tighten the screw, and in my case attempting to do so only resulted in the head of the screw being almost completely destroyed, to the point where it was difficult was to apply enough torque to unscrew it. not to mention tightening it up. Eventually I managed to tighten it down enough that there was just a barely visible open seam along the key side of the case. I mean hardly. If you don't look for it, you probably won't notice it. Another issue is that when fully assembled, the locking button is recessed into the cover compared to the original. You can feel it, but it doesn't affect the functionality at all. It's just different from the original. USEFUL ADVICE. Those of you who buy this shell-only version will need to remove the metal key from the factory key, which requires destroying whatever remains of the original shell. I found that it was very easy to separate the key with a hair dryer rather than physically splitting/shredding the plastic to soften the plastic surrounding the key until it could eventually detach. This will still destroy the original case, but I found it better than using force and risking a bent key. Hooray.
