I bought this RAM for 3 reasons, it wasn't much bigger than non-RGB, it was fast, no longer selected as XMP in BIOS, and they look really great, they fill all four slots. Poorly? I have an RGB capable motherboard, but this RAM doesn't work directly with an RGB motherboard system. You must use the MOD software in addition to the motherboard software, so there is no way for the hardware to work with any of the RGB motherboard systems. They were only slightly larger than a gigabyte of memory, but doubled the capacity. Somehow I doubt that even official gigabytes of memory will sync with motherboard hardware. I read and watched many reviews but no one tried to go into detail when working directly with RGB ON THE MOTHERBOARD. When I start Windows I don't install all this crap anymore and it's a big disappointment here. One star deducted for that. I'll admit it's a big problem for PC vendors to tick off flashy software to keep the hardware running. Why do I need motherboard connectors for RGB if nobody uses them? This is a common industry criticism. I've noticed that everything seems to use USB ports and proprietary software. So a full-featured system would need a fancy USB hub and a taskbar with half a dozen applications running? If for some reason Ballistix reads this, go back to standard RAM and show memory activity like the original. If it was the default I would give 5 stars and be very happy. White? only white? It doesn't even pulse, it just sits there and mimics a flashlight. Simply breathtaking out of laziness and lack of imagination. The original was awesome because it looked cool and immediately told you if the computer was locked. Cool and helpful. Like I said, you just change one setting in the BIOS and they run at rated speed! The radiators look great and are not too big. There's a lot to like here, it's just disappointing if you don't use Windows as your primary operating system or don't like annoying programs in the taskbar. The software is cheap in many ways and that is what makes this software cheap.
